Ltd Edition Picture Disc Of Franks 1954 Swing - Essential Easy Listening arrangend & Featuring Nelson Riddle And His Orchestra
Where Songs for Young Lovers opened up the door of possibility for Sinatra, Swing Easy! was the record that kicked it wide open. Sinatra never sounded so giddy as he does on Swing Easy! Nelson Riddle's arrangements create an alarmingly cozy atmosphere not unlike what Siravo did on Young Lovers. The touch here, though, is that Riddle's arrangements are full of exuberance and energy to spare. "I Get a Kick Out of You" was the closest Sinatra got to this sound before, and here it was in a full 10" LP.
Sinatra's second record with Capitol was above his first in every way except emotionally intricate. The cozy precursor to Swing Easy! is just as enjoyable because of this minor defect. However, this isn't to say Swing Easy! lacked emotion. No, Swing Easy! was what showed us Sinatra could expand his emotional plate beyond relaxed romanticism.
