SARAH GREENE - EENY MEENIE

Sarah Greene writes many of her sparse, country-tinged songs while bicycling around her native Toronto. She played in an indie-folk band called the Pickups in the mid-00s that shared stages with Basia Bulat, Ohbijou, Forest City Lovers and Proof of Ghosts. The Pickups put out a self-titled album (2005) and an EP (2008) that charted on campus/community radio, and the band's song Country Houses was chosen as song of the day by CBC Radio and was featured in the Globe & Mail's Essential Tracks section. After a stint in Halifax, Greene returned to Toronto in 2009 and re-immersed herself in the community as an open stage host, performer and writer. She released a debut solo album earlier this year called Toronto Blues, co-produced by David Celia (drums, guitars) and Mike Evin (piano), with performances by Chris Banks (bass), Abigail Lapell and Ben Veneer.
