Last FM Information on France Joli

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
France Joli is a Canadian singer (born in Montreal in 1963), is a Pop, R&B/Soul, Hi-NRG & Dance singer. Her debut single (released when she was 16) was "Come To Me" and it hit #1 on the US Dance chart in 1979. On the Billboard Hot 100, it was her biggest mainstream hit, breaking the top 20 at #15. Her self titled debut also became a hit, peaking at #26 on the Billboard 200. The success of the single put her on demand for talk shows with Merv Griffin and Dinah Shore and on the Bob Hope special. Thus far, Joli has recorded 5 studio albums and many singles. In 1980 Joli release two top 5 Disco/Dance hits, "The Heart To Break The Heart" and "Feel Like Dancing" after the release of her first ballad to mainstream radio, "This Time (I'm Giving All I Got)", from her sophomore album "Tonight." Both the lead single and album were met with indifference by the mainstream market. This is evident by the albums' disappointing performance. "Tonight" only reached #175 on the Billboard 200. In 1981 she scored her second biggest hit with "Gonna Get Over You" . Although Joli would continue to chart hits on Billboard's Disco/Dance charts througout the 80's they would never reach the pop success of "Come To Me" despite several attempts to broaden her sound and appeal. So after her fifth album, "Witch Of Love", released in 1985, Joli decided to stop recording and concentrate on touring the club scene the world over. In 1996, Joli returned with the single Touch, released on Popular Records. The original incarnation of the single was a CD single with Eurodance styled remixes intended for radio, but didn't get any airplay. The song belatedly became a hit in clubs, reaching #24 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart, when new remixes by Darrin "Spike" Friedman were released on vinyl 12" single. There were two separate 12" singles released individually, each featuring a different Darrin Friedman remix, along with the other mixes from the CD single divided between the two records. The song was mainly a regional hit in the New York/Tri-State area (NY, NJ and CT), as it was a favorite of DJs such as Jonathan Peters and Junior Vasquez at their weekly residencies. The follow up single "Breakaway" included remixes geared toward the underground clubs. Two different CD singles of Breakaway were released, Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 included the Junior Vasquez and Eddie Baez mixes of Breakaway, while part 2 included additional remixes of Breakaway including a remix by Andy The Lamboy, as well one of the Darrin Friedman mixes of Touch, and a previously unreleased Junior Vasquez mix of "Touch". During the first decade of the new millenium, Joli successfully toured to sold out crowds and rave reviews. On January 31, 2012, Joli's single "Hallelujah" debuted on the Dance format radio and went on sale for purchase on online music retailers. Read more on Last.fm.
