2 Track EP OF Jazzy & Soulful House - Top drawer cosmic-tinged, timeless jazz funk from Elixia, ‘Soho Phaze / Soho Nights’, gets the remastered, reissue treatment on Record Shack.
‘Soho Phaze’ wasn’t going to be light on the effects was it? ‘Going heavy on the phaser’ would have been an understatement, but what could have sounded like an endlessly swirling soup of effects turned into a breathtaking, intergalactic, early ‘80s jazz funk dream.
On the flip ‘Soho Nights’ keeps the effects subdued letting the squelching synth lines, feverish stabs and pure funk bass do the strutting. Both sides still do the damage to this day, with DJs such as Nick The Record, Joey Negro, Mark Grusane, Medlar and Faze Action all regularly drawing for the mystique and mastery of this 12 inch. Big tip!
Mysterious UK artist Elixia released just one record, and it was this one back in 1983. Utterly futuristic and filled with mad studio trickery, it's a deconstructed disco tune with myriad filters, phasers and multi-track trickery, jazz-funk instrumentals and whistles, bells, the lot. It's a rather under the radar track that deserves more attention and now gets it thanks to this full reissue. Both versions bare plenty of the same elements, but each one is arranged in a different fashion and with different effects playing out on each. Drop this one and watch the crowd erupt.

Elixia is a two person trance house unit based in Japan comprised of vocalist micca and keyboardist/composer JJ7.
Their first single Feels Like Nowhere was released digitally on Nov. 10, 2010.
Aug. 3, 2011, saw the release of Feels Like Nowhere with two new remixes by discoscience a.k.a Mike McKenna, voted number 1 DJ in Japan for three consecutive years by Loud Magazine, and the UK's Per QX. A clip from the "Feels Like Nowhere" promotional video was featured alongside the commercial for Prison Break on FOX Japan in August 2011. The network described it as being a reprieve from the violent imagery of the program, a chance to "peel the scales from your eyes."
Their second single "Beautiful Euphoria" was released digitally via iTunes on December 20th, 2011.
Elixia's first album Secret Me will be released on May 9, 2012.
