DESCRIPTION:
1996 Rare IDM, Experimental Techno & Downtempo LP Gets Repressed on Limited Edition Gold Vinyl. Inc 8 Page Booklet, sticker Sheet and Download Card For Album + 4 Bonus Tracks.

It continues the sleek, Detroit-inspired sci-fi techno moves of their Electro-Soma era, but ties the tracks to a playful concept in which the tracks are presented as an educational soundtrack designed by the 22nd-century company “B12 Systems”. Housed in an evocative Designer’s Republic sleeve based on a classic Trevor Webb airbrush painting, the sleevenotes riff on a dystopian future society looking back at the primitive past and includes references to such genre touchstones as Blade Runner, Philip K. Dick and Star Wars. For the new vinyl edition the original “B12 technology times” sleevenote has been re-designed as a standalone booklet insert, and there is an A5 sticker sheet of future corporate logos from the Time Tourist universe. The download card includes 4 previously unheard alternate versions of tracks from the album.

A slick, arresting slate of ambient-leaning electro-techno with a strong Detroit feel. Again split between the group's many ongoing projects, the tracks vary from four-on-the-floor club movers to after-hours chill-bound breakbeat tracks and funky, almost jazz-oriented electro.

Last FM Information on B12

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
B12 is a British electronic music duo consisting of Mike Golding and Steve Rutter. Golding and Rutter, who shy away from the press and rarely give interviews, have also released material under the monikers Musicology, Redcell and Cmetric, and distribute their material on their own B12 record label. Their sound is usually categorized as techno or intelligent dance music (IDM). They first released music together as Infamix with two Eps of "Bleep" Techno, and as Xray Xperiments, a breakbeat hardcore rave outfit. Their first full-length album, Electro-Soma, is a collection of early work (some tracks originally released under the Musicology and Cmetric names) which was released by Warp Records in 1993. Their music also appeared on the Warp compilation album Artificial Intelligence. A printing error on the CD insert indicates that this album contains twelve tracks, and in fact it has thirteen ("Drift", originally thought to be available only on the vinyl version of the album, is in fact on the CD release too). In 1996 the pair returned with Time Tourist, which contained mostly new material. The track "Scriptures" was previously released in 1994 on the Artificial Intelligence II compilation. Both albums were re-released in the United States on the Wax Trax! Records/TVT label. The brief 3EP followed in 1998, marking a change in sound from the heavy influence of Detroit techno which had characterized their previous albums. The EP was not released in the United States.
