Tech / Minimal Techno House From Bedrock Stable

The next Bedrock release is the result of a collaborative project of the highest order from three of the scene's most respected creative mavericks - Gabriel Ananda, John Digweed and Nick Muir. Their collective concept of electronic music ventures into a vast, unexplored field of endless possibilities and is the futuristic two-part 'Tachyon Dream'. A year in the making, the project started with John (who is a massive fan) reaching out to Gabriel to see if he would be interested in working on a project together with Nick. Gabriel already had a demo in mind that he had started and the project was soon up and running.

The adventuresome 'Tachyon Dream' begins with a delightful hip-wiggling organic percussive groove overlaid with superbly funky keys, before evolving with abstract and uplifting melodies to introduce more driving Techno elements and soaring into a dreamlike finale. In perfect contrast John and Nick's 'Tachyon Dream Rework' is an even more powerful

Last FM Information on Gabriel Ananda

Gabriel Ananda was captivated by the sound of Classical music by the early age of 8. He was encouraged by his family to practice the cello, but it was through playing the guitar that fueled his motivation to continue to learn about music. The guitar became a useful tool to express his creativity, but Gabriel was not finished searching for his musical direction. In 1995 that changed. A DJ set by Sven Väth was the pivotal moment that ended Gabriel’s search to find his passion and two years later, the new producer celebrated his first release for the German label Hörspielmusik. He went on to release singles on Treibstoff, Trapez, Platzhirsch, and Karmarouge before producing what was for him, a life changing track. His 2004 release of “Süssholz” went straight to the top of the German DJ charts, landing in the playlists of any well known DJ. It was followed by another “hit” in 2005 titled “Ihre persönliche Glücksmelodie”, and then “Doppelwhipper”, which topped the end of year charts in 2006 and placed Gabriel in the eyes and ears of an international audience, and quickly became one of the main contributors to the growing Techno scene of Cologne. He began playing for the most prestigious events on an international level, as a DJ, and a live act, using not only his own productions, but also self made MIDI controllers, showing his passion for all aspects of music, and the performance. In 2008, Gabriel founded his own label, Basmati, as a place where he can release his own productions with complete artistic freedom, and by the end of 2011 Basmati celebrated its nine releases, eight of those from Gabriel himself. One of the most notable being the Live Series, which brings the energy of his live sets to the DJ, and includes the worldwide chart topper, “Hey Blop”. Read more on Last.fm. Last FM Information on John Digweed

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
John Digweed is a British DJ and record producer. He began DJing at around age 13. He realised the only way to break through was to start his own nightclub and book the big names like Carl Cox for him to play with. His break finally came when Sasha (real name Alexander Coe) played at Digweed's Bedrock nightclub in Hastings. Sasha, impressed by what he heard, offered Digweed the residency with him at the now seminal club Renaissance, at that time in Mansfield. A lasting partnership was born and saw the release of the the first ever club mix compilation "Renaissance a mix compilation pt One - Sasha and Digweed," regarded by many as still the best. John Digweed, along with Sasha, as Sasha and Digweed, is known for promoting a progressive trance/house sound that became popular in Europe and North America in the 1990s. However, as trance became brighter (described by some as 'cheesier' or 'fluffier'), the progressive sound provided a counterpoint by becaming darker, more minimal and tribal going into the 2000s. Along with Nick Muir, Digweed produces under the alias Bedrock. Digweed also started the record label Bedrock Records. Digweed appeared in the 2000 film Groove, and in 2008, Digweed's music is to be featured in the film movie adaptation of Irvine Welsh's best-selling novel "Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance." A Bedrock track 'For What You Dream Of' also appeared in "Trainspotting," which was based on the novel of the same name by Irvine Welsh. Digweed has a weekly radio show on Kiss 100 in the UK, where he provides a one hour set of his choice of music, followed by a one hour set of a guest. In addition to Europe, Digweed has had a tremendous career in North America. Digweed, along with Sasha, established a monthly residency at the now defunct New York club Twilo, a legendary residency that established itself at the forefront of progressive trance and house music into the American mainstream. Digweed followed this appearance with a country-wide tour called Delta Heavy, a moderately successful appearance across North America. Digweed's Bedrock nightclub in the UK still continues with a very clued up and loyal crowd of house lovers! Read more on Last.fm.
